Poetry: a heart nobly born

A Heart Nobly Born

Nicky has no friends.

Austin needs a smile and to be called by name.

He looks different.

And Dylan’s deeper place keeps track of these things.

Could it be his heart aches for the friendless?

Could it be, Lord, that his heart has tenderness for the poor?

The orphaned,

the poor,

the disfigured,

the discarded,

the outcast--

the poor in spirit--

find a place in my son’s heart.

He notices the unnoticed.

He has a rare heart condition, nobility.

a heart yielded to the friendless and fatherless,

a heart nobly born.

Could there be anything better than this?

To match the Saviour’s heart?

to give one’s utmost

to the least of these?

Nicky has no friends.

Austin needs a smile.

Dylan’s deeper place brings down heaven.

And we see God there.
